I'm staring out into the night, Trying to hide the pain.
I'm going to the place where love, And feeling good don't ever cost a thing.
And the pain you feel's a different kind of pain

If you asked him what he wanted the most at that moment, he wouldn’t have said Wimbledon, the US Open, or any other Grand Slam title. He wouldn’t have even said a Master’s title. Not even the Olympic gold would rank high on the list of what he wanted the most right then and there.

What he wanted above all else was simple…he wanted his schätzchen. He wanted his blonde, blue-eyed lover. He would much rather be snuggled up with Mardy and a fire somewhere in the Alps and not worry about the world and anything but each other. That was paradise. That was home.

Home. Some might say home is where the heart is, well…that was true he guessed. His home was where his heart was; his home and his heart were both Mardy. Mardy was everything he could ever want and so much more. Funny and sweet, affectionate but not necessarily needy; he was perfection.

And Tommy missed him. God how he missed him. Stupid injuries plagued by different tournaments. Tommy had made sure that he had called Mardy at least twice a day in an effort to keep them together over the distance.

He didn’t have what he wanted, but he did have his thoughts and memories and his phone. That wasn’t much, but at least it was a taste of home.
