Dearest Alice,

I remember the day when you came through the mists to my tea party. We had been waiting for you, the Hare, the Dormouse, and I. Waiting, just for you. I was so pleased to see you, Alice, I was so very pleased. I was absolutely sure that it was you Alice, even if you were late. I forgive you ever so easily for that.

I forgive you for many things, Alice, but one thing I must confess I do not forgive is your murder. Not of the Jabberwockey, of course, the monstrous thing, nor of the soldiers of the pretender Red Queen or those loyal of the White Queen.

No, what it is I cannot forgive is the careless, senseless murder of my heart. It is yours Alice, it has been since I first came across you at tea. It grew to be yours even more so after your visit, brief though it was. I love you Alice, most ardently. Why is it that you do not return those feelings for me? Am I not brave enough for you? Loyal and true? What is it that turns you away from me so easily and makes you leave Underland as if it really is just a dream that you will no doubt awaken from?

You have murdered and destroyed my heart and I cease to function properly, as properly as I can, without you. My thoughts are yours to control and that is what you do, even from wherever distant plains you are. Oh Alice, can’t you see? Can’t you feel as I do? Is it because I am mad? That could be overcome—oh, perhaps it couldn’t. I don’t think that is so, you don’t seem to mind my madness. You seemed to enjoy it. Alas, please…please Alice return to me? Return to us in Underland? It is not just I that miss you, we all do.

Please Alice? Return with your muchness and lead us in revels once more.

Dear Hatt—Tarrant,

I miss you. No matter how many times I start this letter off with cordial greetings and proper beginnings, that is what my message is at its heart: I miss you. No matter where I am, the places I see or the people I meet, I keep seeing flame-red hair frizzled out and covered by a half-burned hat. I keep seeing your green eyes, bold and striking even from a distance. Are you haunting me from Underland? I think you are.

I miss all of you, of course. The Dormouse, the March Hare, the White Queen, and Chessur, amongst all the others. But most of all, I miss you. Your madness, your spark of life. Just, you Tarrant.

I hope one day soon McTwisp finds me again and takes me back.
