Bojan wondered about things at times. Most of his thoughts usually focused on football and his education and trying to find the comfortable balance between the two. His family was a close third. The fourth, and perhaps sometimes neglected, was Marc, his best friend and, occasionally, his lover. When Marc had gone to Celtic, Bojan had thought his world was going to end. Marc was almost his everything and he had just left. Marc had assured him that no matter what, he would always be there for him. Even if he played in Antarctica, he had said, he would always be with him in the Catalan sunshine. That had made him feel better about the move and Bojan had kissed his friend goodbye.
Marc knew that Bojan was constantly over-thinking things and that sometimes worked him up into high anxiety situations. He felt bad for leaving his sweetheart behind but Barcelona didn’t need him the same way Celtic did. He always made sure to visit Bojan as often as he could and he called him frequently. He always made sure that Bojan knew he was in Marc’s thoughts and dreams.
No matter what, come hell or high water, they would sink or swim together.

“Cesc, what are you talking about now?”
“See? You get that tone right there and then we fight about stuff. Don’t scoff at me!”
“I’m not scoffing at you. I’m verbally rolling my eyes.”
“You are just insensitive!”
“That’s not what you said last night…”
“…well that was different.”
“I would say so!”
“You’re not sensitive just because I’m naked under you. That doesn’t make you sensitive.”
“No, but you are the sensitive one then because you have that spot, you know the one right by your ear? You become the rabbit from Bambi when you get touched there.”
“The rabbit’s name is Thumper. And that’s not fair!”
“Quit whining! You act like a baby sometimes.”
“I do not!”
“You’re whining again.”
“I am not!”
“…”
“Okay, maybe a little bit.”
“…”
“Okay, maybe a lot. Quit looking at me like that!”
“Like what?”
“Like that Sese! If you’re going to stare at me at least have on your bedroom eyes!”
“…you mean these?”
“…y-yeah those.”
“Want to go fuck now?”
“Oh god please yes.”

Fernando was entirely too sweet for his own good. Jamie had known this all along and as a result had questioned the boy’s sanity for settling for a bloke like him. He was coarse and rough; he yelled too much and could swear enough to make a sailor blush. He had an extremely short temper that, more often than not, came out at the wrong time. He wasn’t ‘in touch’ with all the latest fashions, he didn’t care about them anyway. He didn’t have a romantic bone in his body; his idea of a good time was out drinking with the lads at a pub till one in the morning.
On the other hand, Fernando was soft-spoken and endearing. He was humble and quiet; his smiles could put anyone to ease. Fernando hardly ever lost his temper and when he did it was for a damn good reason. He was lovely to look at, up to date with the trends, and pleasant to be around. Nando was affectionate and loveable.
If Jamie could sum up Nando in a word it would probably be sweet. Nando was a lot of things but sweet covered his personality the best.
So when Fernando came up behind him in his empty house one afternoon and put his arms around him, Jamie enjoyed the warmth that the Spaniard brought with him. Whatever the reason Fernando hung around him, he was grateful.
“Te amo.”
Jamie didn’t need a translator to understand that.
