Iker rushed down the tunnel and into the locker room after he’d managed to extract himself from the whistling, jokes, and other jibes the guys were throwing at him and Sergio. Sergio, Iker groaned at the thought of one of his closest friends.
Iker knew he was only trying to help but damn it, why did he have to pick now to decide to help him out?
Iker groaned again and looked around the locker room, searching for Villa. The Asturian was nowhere to be seen, however. Even his locker was cleared out. Iker slammed his hand against his locker in frustration.
He’d tried so hard to just get the man to trust him only for this to happen? A thousand emotions rushing through his system, Iker shook his head and collapsed onto the bench. Why did crap like this always have to happen to him? First Beckham and now Villa?
A small cough made Iker look up. Sergio was twisting his hair in his fingers nervously. His eyes were pleading and he was biting his lip.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know that…Well, I didn’t know. I’m sorry.”
“Not your fault Sese.” Iker sighed. The Gypsy seemed relieved that he was no longer in threat. He advanced forward and sat next to Iker on the bench. He put his arm around him and squeezed.
“Maybe, maybe he’d understand? If I explained to him…?”
“Understand what, that you’ve been using me?” Iker and Sergio jumped apart at the sound of the Valencian striker’s voice. “Thank you Iker, thank you for showing me why I shouldn’t trust people.”
“Nothing happened David!” Iker started but the look that Villa sent him had him shrinking back.
Villa glared at Sergio. “Don’t even pretend you didn’t kiss him. Don’t even pretend you weren’t feeling him up!”
Villa threw his showering materials into a bag in disgust and left the locker room. Sergio was lost deep inside himself and Iker too couldn’t find himself. He understood what people meant when they were ‘blue’ now.
There was no way Villa was going to forgive him now. Even if he hadn’t done anything, Villa didn’t trust anyone. Iker was no exception.
