Chapter One: London Calling

“Come on, I’m starving! Let’s go eat!” Tyler leaned against the wall and yelled into his friends’ room.

“We’re coming, chill the crap out.” Jessica called back tying her tennis shoes.

Emily finished brushing her hair. “Ready.”

Jessica pulled tight on the lace and jumped up. It was little wonder why they called her the Energizer bunny. “Me too. Let’s get a move on.”

Tyler groaned out a ‘finally’ before sliding into the elevator and holding the doors open for the two girls. All three went down smiling. When the doors opened, they joined the crowd standing near Professor Loudon and the few other chaperones for the trip.

“All right everyone, please be safe. And remember, groups of three or more, no less!” Loudon looked right at Jessica when he said the last part. Tyler nudged her arm and she swatted him away. “Have a good dinner everyone.”

“Let’s get out of here, I’m starvin’!” Jessica was the first one out followed by Tyler and Emily. “Where do y’all wanna go?”

“Oh there’s this great place just up the street—how the hell should we know Jess? We don’t live here!”

Jessica looked at Tyler. “Good point.”

“Maybe we could find a taxi or something to go somewhere?” Emily suggested and the two looked at each other and shrugged.

“Works for me.”

“Let’s go.”

The three piled into a taxi that was waiting by the hotel and Jessica was the one who asked for nearby places to eat. The cabbie was relaying back information while driving through the streets. The trio picked one and then relaxed while they floated through the streets of London.

“Well hell…” Jessica said suddenly as they passed by one big building.

“What?” Tyler and Emily asked, looking from their window to hers.

“That’s Stamford Bridge.” Jessica said while looking at it as they passed.

“It’s not a bridge though…” Emily whispered to Tyler and he just lifted his shoulder to shrug.

“So the lass likes Chelsea then?” The cabbie asks looking at them from the rearview mirror.

Jessica laughed. “No way pal, I’d go Arsenal before even looking at Chelsea.”

“’m afraid lass, that you’d have to go up to North London to see Emirates.”

“Yeah, maybe if we get to go to up there for something I can see it as well.” Jessica sighed. “You a Chelsea fan sir?”

The man laughed and shook his head. “Fulham.”

“I see.” Jessica nodded. “I’m a Liverpool fan myself.”

“My cousin lives up there. Says he sees Stevie Gerrard all the time.” The cabbie said to Jessica, while Tyler and Emily looked between the two.

“Your cousin is a lucky man. I’d love to be in Liverpool.”

“But then you wouldn’t see us!” Emily whined and Jessica laughed.

“You’d come visit me, wouldn’t you?”

Tyler and Emily looked at each other before Tyler spoke. “Oh well, I don’t know. We’d be so busy and all and…”

“Tyler!” Jessica whined and Tyler laughed.

“Of course we would.”

“Oh look, we’re here.” Emily said as the taxi came to a stop.

“Thank you for the conversation.” Jessica paid the cab driver and he nodded to her.

“Same to you Miss. Good luck to your boys next season.”

Jessica grinned. “Luck to Fulham.”

The cabbie drove off and Jessica shook her head and turned back to her friends with a smile.

“Have a nice chat, lass?” Tyler asked batting his eyelashes.

“Shurrup! You know nobody talks to me about fo—soccer. Sorry if I kinda got carried away…” Jess bit her lip and Tyler put his arm around her.

“S’okay hun. We get it.” Emily said as they walked into the little restaurant. While they ordered, the banter continued and conversational topics did not become an issue.

It was late by the time they left the restaurant and got back to the hotel. They said goodnight and disappeared into their rooms.

The next morning, Jessica was eating breakfast on her way down to the ‘meeting place’, outside the hotel. She was almost done with her banana when she was sidetracked by Professor Loudon.

“Jessica honey…”

“Yes sir?” Jessica smiled sweetly. Professor Loudon was so malleable to Jessica that it amused her and everyone else greatly—except for those who actually tried like Cassidy and Jenna to get his attention and failed.

“I have just found out that we will get to see Wembley Stadium,” Jessica was grinning brightly now, “but not until the second to last day we are here.”

“Who cares, I get to see Wembley!” Jessica beamed and Loudon smiled as well.

“I just figured that if anyone would like to know that, it’d be you.”

“Thanks Professor!” Jessica grinned before sobering just a little. “What are we going to see today?”

“The Tower of London.”

“Oooh awesome!” Jessica was positively beaming now. “I wonder if we’ll see Anne Boleyn’s ghost…”

“I highly doubt it, but…we will get to see some of the crown jewels.” Loudon and Jessica were walking outside now.

“Oh I’m sure Cassidy and Jenna will just absolutely hate that.”

Loudon laughed. “Yes, I’m sure they would.”

“Have a good day sir.” Jessica smiled and went to find Tyler.

“Guess what dudes?!” Jessica was giddy.

“What?” Tyler took the bait.

“We get to go see Wembley!”

“Oooh, I’ve always wanted to go see Wimbledon!” Emily grinned and Jessica shook her head.

“Not Wimbledon, Wembley. Wembley Stadium. It’s a foot—soccer stadium.” Jessica explained, still excited.

“Um…whoopee?” Emily asked because she wasn’t sure what else to say. When Jessica was in a sports mood, you were talking about sports whether you liked it or not.

“Did the great professor tell you where we were going today? Or did you even ask?” Tyler asked to defuse the rant building in Jessica.

“Oh, the—”

“Oimygod! The Tower of London!” Cassidy and Jenna squealed to each other.

“…Tower of London.” Jessica finished and shook her head. “I wonder if you took a poll of those two, who’d have the higher I.Q.”

“Well, it really wouldn’t matter because the total couldn’t fill a teaspoon.” Tyler replied, shaking his head. Emily and Jessica sniggered and got on the bus.

It was going to be an interesting day.
