Prompt: What Do You Want by Jerrod Niemann
Pairing: Iniesta/Xavi

Xavi stared at the shadows on his wall. He could hear that familiar ringtone from the table beside him. He didn’t even look over at it. He knew what Andres would say; it wouldn’t be anything new. It would be the same old “I miss you, can we talk?” and that would lead to a place Xavi didn’t want to go again. He couldn’t help himself but looking at the bedroom from the corner of his eyes. He turned away quickly and grimaced. Any time they did that any more, it felt like he was losing Andres more than he was ever getting any part of him back.

They were done, kind of. So why did Andres keep calling? What more did he want? What more could he give him? What more would Andres take? Xavi sighed. Being in love sucked.

Prompt: Are You Going to Kiss Me Or Not? by Thompson Square
Pairing: Kelly/Coady

The smell of fresh grass filled both of their senses and they were relaxed almost immediately. They enjoyed moments laying in the grass of the field just outside of town with the rare glimpse of sun on their skin, warming them. They held hands, but only here where nobody would see. Martin smiled to himself at the contact and tried to think of what he could do to get a little closer to Conor.

Conor turned his head and looked at his friend. “Hey Martin?”

“Yes?” Martin looked over at his voice.

“Are you going to kiss me or not?”

Martin swallowed. Well since he had put it like that…

Prompt: Cry by Alexx Calise
Pairing: Casillas/Fabregas

It did not take a rocket scientist to figure out that he had messed up something terrible. He still could see the look on Cesc’s face when he had walked in suddenly and seen the hurt, the anger, the disappointment, but the sadness. That overwhelming sadness had been shining in the younger man’s big brown eyes.

Iker felt empty for what he had done. How could he have been so stupid as to cheat on Cesc? How could he have let his mind go so easily? He hung his head and let the shame fill him. He deserved to feel like this. No amount of apologies would ever repair the damage he’d done.

Prompt: Speaking A Dead Language by Joy Williams
Pairing: Gerrard/Alonso

Steven had tried but he never really could quite figure out when he and Xabi had lost it. It had been before Xabi had left Liverpool; that much he was sure of. But when that moment had been he couldn’t put his finger on it. He wanted it to make some sense; he wanted to know why he couldn’t remember when he had loved Xabi a little less, or when Xabi had loved him less. He wanted to know when everything had started to slide downhill. He wanted to go back to that moment, whenever it may have been, and grab hold of everything and pull it back up that hill.

Prompt: Best Thing I Never Had by Beyonce
Pairing: Nolan/Carroll

He knew he had made mistakes. He wasn’t the best person that had ever lived and breathed. He knew he also wasn’t the best person that Kevin had ever hung out with. But honestly? He really didn’t think he was all that bad. Certainly not enough to earn a swift kick up in the ego when Kevin had said that he was so glad that he had never let Andy get more than a few hand jobs. Still, Andy felt bad when he thought about it though. He really had liked Kevin.

Prompt: My Heart Still Beats For You by Anna Ternheim
Pairing: Villa/Silva

There was something about knowing that no matter what happened, no matter what anybody ever said, there would be that one person that he knew he would love above all others. Silva had been blessed, or perhaps cursed, to meet his soul mate while they had played for the same team. He had been naïve then; he had believed that everything would be perfect, they’d stay in Valencia forever, and they would always be together. The meet ups with Spain would be their holidays and their victories together would be so much sweeter because they would celebrate together.

Then life intervened and they were separated. Villa had moved up the coast and he had gone to rainy Manchester. It was funny how life turned out, he thought with some bitterness. He lied when his Spanish friends called and told them he was fine. And he could pretend for a while that he really didn’t miss the sun and warmth of Spain for other people. But his heart knew the difference. He couldn’t lie to that beating heart of his.

Prompt: Turning Tables by Adele
Pairing: Guardiola/Krkic

The young man watched with guarded eyes as he regarded the man he had once loved more than any other. The man he had worshiped, admired, and wanted to be when he grew up. The man who had turned into a monster in front of his eyes. The man who he now detested and wanted to be away from. Rome was as good a place as any. Pep wouldn’t save him. Pep had thrown him to the wolves and hadn’t bothered to hear his screams for help. Pep had abandoned him as if he’d been a toy.

Bojan didn’t even spare Pep a ‘goodbye’ after all the years’ that he had known him. Goodbye was too good a word for the man who had ruined everything and broken his dreams. Goodbye was not enough of a word to cover it. Good riddance was more like it, Bojan thought as he boarded the plane. He did not look back.

Prompt: Safe by Britt Nicole
Pairing: Giggs/Owen

Things happened; people got hurt, feelings got damaged, trust became something harder and harder to give. Lives got upturned, plans never really worked out the way they were supposed to. Walls were built for protection from anything. Conversations were ended abruptly when they started down a road one wasn’t willing to talk about.

So why did Ryan find himself opening up and chatting to Michael about anything that he would never tell another soul? Why did the boy from Chester have such an air about him that caused him to relax? Why was he the only one that was safe?

Prompt: Love Is A Losing Game by Amy Winehouse
Pairing: Giggs/Neville

It was a terrible thing to know that he had already lost the game before he had ever really started it. What was worse was that there were no rules to call a foul or any sort of penalty. There was no punishment that could be given. It was a mess.

Ryan wished he had never heard of the game of love. He wished he had never entered the competition. He wished he had enough charms to win, but he knew—and had really always known—that Gary wasn’t his to compete for. He had lost.

Prompt: Cosmic Love by Florence and The Machine
Pairing: Xavi/Villa

He knew joining the team that it was a risk. I mean, Barça was made up of superstars and so much talent, skill, and awe inspiring players. It would be a competition to get playing time, to say the very least. But when he saw Xavi…something hit him and he was rooted to the ground.

The midfielder was brilliant and an amazing footballing God. How David had ever lucked out enough to be privileged enough to see him at work on an almost daily basis was something he couldn’t quite figure out. However, Xavi did not seem to return his admirations.

David kept his admiration in the dark and he would until one day he could work up enough courage to move past his insecurities to tell Xavi that he thought he was amazing and brilliant. One day he would get out of the dark.

Prompt: Higher Window by Josh Groban
Pairing: Agger/Torres

Missed chances, ruined opportunities. They were words he tried to keep to conversations about his lack of goals for his new club, but whenever he thought about it, they could be applied to one other line of conversation no one ever asked him about. For a few minutes every so often, Fernando would entertain the idea of what would happen if he ever went back to Liverpool to tell Daniel what he really had meant to him. But then he would remember the Chelsea match and the way Daniel had been a little more aggressive than necessary. Any chance he had was gone, he knew it.

Nando sighed and put the photo back under his socks in the drawer and turned to look out the window. London was so different from Liverpool. He still wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or not.

Prompt: If Heaven Wasn’t So Far Away by Justin Moore
Pairing: Keane/Cantona

Some others might call him old, but whenever he’d shoot them another infamous glare, they’d quickly amend their statements. He might be older, but damnit he wasn’t old. There was a difference. Even though there was more silver in what was left of his hair than any other color, he still maintained that he was as young as ever.

He rested his hand on the cold stone and squeezed the rock the way he used to squeeze the man’s shoulder to whom it belonged. He looked down at the name written on the tombstone and he knew it wouldn’t be long before they were together raising hell again. That would be a lot sooner if heaven wasn’t so far away, he thought and shook his head before he pulled his coat around him and turned to leave the graveyard.

Prompt: One Last Time by Kellie Pickler
Pairing: Beckham/Casillas

The visit had been a complete surprise, but a terribly welcome, and long past-due, one. Iker had held David close once they had separated themselves from the others and had moved somewhere private. He didn’t want to let go of him, even though he knew he would have to come the morning light.

David kissed Iker’s forehead softly before he pulled away to finish buttoning his shirt. Last night had been wonderful; it always was. But he had to go, his own duties called and he could not stay in Spain a moment longer. It was a lie, it wasn’t his duties calling him away, but that was irrelevant. He was leaving.

Iker heard the whispered word as the door shut behind David. Goodbye was the worst word he had ever heard.

Prompt: Kiss N Tell by Kesha
Pairing: Fabregas/Pique, Villa

Cesc’s arms were crossed over his chest as he glared at Gerard. “Really, Pique, that’s what you’re going to tell me?”

Gerard looked confused, but guarded. “What? I didn’t do anything! I’ve missed you while you’ve been gone!”

Cesc shook his head and shot his ‘boyfriend’ a dirty look. “Maybe next time you should consider keeping it locked up in your pants you whore.”

Cesc slammed the door behind him as he walked out of the hotel room. He saw Villa standing in the hallway and nodded once to him. “Thanks for letting me know.”

Prompt: Judas by Lady Gaga
Pairing: Owen/Gerrard

The word was bitter on his tongue and even he tasted bitter. It had started as insult, smirked into Owen’s face during the halftime break. Owen had snapped and pushed his former mate against the wall and had tried to kiss that word away, much the same way he had tried to kiss away defeat years ago. It didn’t work.

Steven pushed Michael away and spat the word again with his eyes blazing.

“Calling me Judas would work,” Michael panted out of breath from the force of the kiss, “had you not taken so long to kiss me back.”

Prompt: Monday Morning by Melanie Fiona
Pairing: Lampard/Terry

The frustrations of being in the city were too much. Frank bought a train ticket and packed an overnight bag. He wasn’t going for long, God knows he wasn’t going to compromise his position at the club for a few frustrations, but he needed a small holiday away from everything.

He picked up his mobile and pressed the speed dial number he knew so well and waited a few short rings before the bright, cheery voice answered.

“I’m leaving Monday, right after training. You in?” Frank said gruffly.

There was only a moment’s pause as John processed that. “Of course. Where we off to?”

Prompt: Here Comes Goodbye by Rascal Flatts
Pairing: Carrick/O’Shea

There had not even been a rumor in the papers before the confirmation echoed around the club. There had been no form of preparation, only the heaviness of acceptance and fact. At first, Mikey didn’t believe it. How could he? John had been a part of the club since…forever. How could he possibly be going anywhere?

But when he saw the dull look of sorrow in his lover’s eyes, he knew it was true. Goodbye was on its way and when John opened his mouth, goodbye had arrived.

Prompt: Wild Horses by The Sundays
Pairing: Gerrard/Carragher

The years had been kind, and unkind to both of them in different ways. They had both made friends, and lost them. They had both been injured, severely and not. They had both had ups and downs in the press. They had both watched time pass, seasons change, trophies be won and lost. They had watched squads grow and change, develop and falter, and move through the halls of Anfield.

But one thing that didn’t change was their affections for one another. They loved each other so much that wild horses wouldn’t take them away from Liverpool, or each other.

Prompt: What Have You Done by Within Temptation
Pairing: Neville/Beckham

There was a fine line between pain and love. It was a line that could only be blurred under certain circumstances and, for whatever reason, loving David happened to keep that line blurred constantly. David could love and be the best friend, lover, and man that anyone had ever known, that he had ever known. But then, on those other times, he could be an arsehole that was rude, vulgar, and the lowest form of scum that he had ever heard of.

Gary knew that sometimes he didn’t want to love David, but at other times he wanted nothing more than to hold him close. It wasn’t fair this connection that was between them. But fate didn’t care about fairness, instead it cursed people with love.

Prompt: Good Life by One Republic
Pairing: Pick your pair

The smell of fresh clean sheets was the first thing he noticed followed quickly by the warmth of sunlight on his skin. It was a few moments longer before he felt the gentle glide of lips along his back and the prickle of stubble following quickly thereafter. He smiled into the pillow and enjoyed the feeling of being woken by his lover.
